A Swinging '70s-Inspired Home in Maine

Tyler was able to create a 70s-inspired space that hits all the design high notes of the decade without veering into parody or camp. With some smartly shopped pieces and warm colors, this home is as eye-catching as it is welcoming.

From Tyler:

"When my clients brought me on board, immediately after purchasing the property, they informed me that their inspiration was "seventies conversation pit." I was elated. My first stop to source items was Brimfield (timing worked out well on that).

Most of the barware was sourced at Brimfield, as well as the dining table base and a few other accessories. The Knoll Wassily chairs were sourced through our local Portland Flea-for-all, one of my favorite local resources. The lighting is Arteriors and Jonathan Adler (as is the wall sculpture), the brassiness of which communicated well with the Kelly Wearstler wallpaper. The king bed is a custom piece design by a local craftsman. The live edge brings a bit of earthiness to the space.

I had a blast designing this project, creating a space that is highly livable and that doesn't take itself too seriously."
